I ended up turning off all mouse clicks with the touchpad. If you're using Ubuntu, you can find this option under System -> Preferences -> Mouse Preferences -> Touchpad -> Enable mouse clicks with touchpad I had trouble on my eeePC 901 with trackpad movements incorrectly registering as clicks, but not just middle clicks.
